Cosmetic Treatments for Dark Circles

Cosmetic Treatments for Dark Circles

Although dark circles are commonly associated with fatigue, they have more to do with genetics and hereditary. According to the New York Times, the two most likely causes of dark circles are hyper pigmentation due the melanin's overreaction to the sun and dilated blood vessels. Solutions for this beauty dilemma range from Retin A-infused topical creams to caustic cosmetic surgery procedures.

Topical Cream

Topical creams are a common treatment to help erase dark circles under the eyes. These prescription beauty products usually contain "Tretinoin," also known as "Retin-A," a chemical that is derived from vitamin A. The cream works by helping the skin to renew itself, increasing the turnover of cells. Other eye creams can contain skin-stimulating agents, such as green tea, caffeine, soy, peptides and alpha-hydroxy acids.

Natural Remedies

The Prevention Health's book "Natural Remedies: Nondrug Healing Strategies that Work Best" recommends the use of chilled tea bags to reduce under eye darkness. Chamomile or green tea bags are first saturated in hot water, then cooled in the refrigerator and applied to the eyes. Another natural remedy suggested in the book is cotton balls soaked with witch hazel. Both treatments require direct application to the closed eyelid for at least 20 minutes.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing treatment that can be used to treat under eye darkness. The depth of the peel depends on the skin color, texture and sensitivity, thus doctors usually do an in-depth analysis of the face's skin before suggesting the level of treatment. The three levels of chemical peels are surface (or superficial), medium and deep. Acids used range from the milder alpha-hydroxy (derived from natural fruit acids) to the more caustic phenol mixture, which could require the use of anesthesia or IV sedation.

Laser Treatments

Two types of laser treatments can be used to decrease dark circles: laser resurfacing and photo facials. Laser resurfacing requires either a carbon dioxide or erbium narrow laser to remove the outer layer of skin. The carbon dioxide laser allows for deeper penetration, thus providing better results for deep set pigmentation. The down side of this laser treatment is can damage the surface of the skin, and have a longer recovery time.

Photo facials are a less harsh treatment that uses the intense light pulse system (IPL). The broad laser emits intense pulses of light to a localized area. The light has the ability to penetrate the skin, without damaging the skin's outer layer. As a result, the laser can targets the broken capillaries, restrict blood to the area, and help form new collagen. Tuscon Citizen.com states that this treatment has gained popularity because of its quick healing time --- patients can have the treatment for lunch, apply makeup and return to work the same day.

How Does Doing Facial Exercises Firm Face Muscles?

Introduction

Facial exercises are a way to look younger without the expense and risks of plastic surgery, Botox or collagen injections. Many people say that doing facial exercises has tightened and firmed up sagging and loose skin, but only a few studies on the subject exist. Without exercise, the muscles in any part of the body become flaccid and atrophy. Exercising the face is a natural way to tone up the muscles and give the appearance that the skin has been lifted. Facial exercises let you improve the look of your skin from the inside out.

How Exercise Firms the Face Muscles

The face moves because of the underlying muscles. The skin is attached to the muscles, and this makes it possible for facial expressions such as smiling, raising an eyebrow, frowning or winking. The skin and muscles of the face are closely connected. Underneath the surface of the skin is subcutaneous tissue that is responsible for the elasticity. As we age, the muscles and tissue fibers decrease, leaving drooping and lined skin. The skin is attached to the subcutaneous tissue and muscles. As the facial muscles are contracted and relaxed, the muscles and tissue fibers increase in volume, similar to body building, increasing the size of muscles. With stronger and tighter facial muscles, the underlying tissue is also strengthened, and this affects the skin by reducing the appearance of wrinkles and loose skin. As the muscles are exercised, the skin is gently stretched, and this results in smoother and tauter skin. The signs of aging are diminished. "...Been hiding your age from the whole entire world? But for how long will this continue? Or got fed up hoping those tempting anti aging creams, uncomfortable surgery and unhealthy chemicals? Do Not Worry, dear. Here is a natural remedy to look and get younger, healthier and sexier than you are. So here it is for you Anti-aging Foods..". Facial exercises also increase the production of collagen and elastin, which are two important substances that help keep the skin elastic.

Why Do Facial Exercises

Face exercises are a natural and inexpensive way to gain a more youthful appearance. Exercising the body is known to help tone up the muscles, to make them larger, stronger and more defined. Just as if you don't exercise, your body becomes fat and loose, the same thing happens with your face as you age. Exercising the facial muscles has the same effect as exercising the legs or abdomen. Facial exercise can not only prevent wrinkles, sagging skin and dropping eyelids, it can also reverse some of the damage already done by aging. Facial exercises affect people differently. But doing facial exercises on a daily basis for 5 to 10 minutes can show improvements within a few weeks. Facial exercises work by focusing on one set of facial muscles at a time. One type of facial exercise is called face building. This method concentrates on exercising the 21 major muscles that are responsible for facial expressions. These muscles are not constantly in use, so they lose some of their suppleness and elasticity. The idea is to choose the areas of the face that you feel need the most work. Do each exercise until the muscles get tired for maximum benefit. Exercise also brings oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the face, and these are important for the function and maintenance of skin cells.

Studies and Research

In a study conducted by Gary L. Grove, PhD, at the Skin Study Center, a research facility in Pennsylvania, after 3 months of twice-daily facial exercises, the participants showed "highly significant differences." The participants felt their faces were more firm and more elastic. The facial muscles were also stronger "as measured by the time they could hold a high resistance load."

How to Hydrate Aging Skin

How to Hydrate Aging Skin

As we age, various things about us change. Our hair becomes grayer, our investments mature, and our faces begin to show the years, for better or for worse. However, there are some things that you can do to hydrate your aging skin and keep it from aging before you do. Read on to learn how to hydrate aging skin.

Instructions

    1

Say no to smoking which ages the skin prematurely. It causes your skin to lose its elasticity earlier which makes it more difficult for it to hold onto moisture.

    2

Start from the inside out. Drink plenty of water and eat healthy foods rich in antioxidants. The first step to hydrate your skin is to give your body the things it needs to repair itself.

    3

Use a humidifier. You can use a humidifier while you sleep which can aid in giving dry skin a boost during the day, which will prevent your skin from drying out throughout the day.

    4

Protect your skin. Wear sunscreen everyday. Sun damage does a great deal of damage to our skin, and even more so as we age. Exposure to the harmful effects of the sun can create more wrinkles, as well as discoloration and age spots, so if you are in the process of trying to hydrate your skin so you have a more youthful glow, don't set yourself back by forgetting to wear sunscreen every day.

    5

Find an excellent moisturizer and other skin care products that help to hydrate your skin. Using thicker creams that replenish your skin like moisturizers with B vitamins to hydrate your thirsty aging skin. "...Been covering your age from the whole entire world? But for how much time will this go on? Or got given up wanting those tempting anti aging creams, unpleasant surgery and unhealthy chemicals? Do Not Worry, dear. Right here is a natural therapy to look and get younger, healthier and sexier than you are. So here it is for you Anti-aging Foods..". Maintain elasticity, promote cell turnover, and create a moisture barrier between your face and the environment for the greatest benefit.

    6

Avoid the hype. The more outlandish the claims about reversing the signs of aging that a product makes, the more suspicious you should be. There truly is no magic bullet for aging skin, and spending time and money hunting for the well of eternal youth will just make you worry more and enjoy the skin that you're in even less. Skin hydration can be as basic as smearing some petroleum jelly on your cheeks and lips before going out on a windy day or as complicated as expensive salon procedures. Find what makes you skin feel healthy and don't worry about the rest.

About Facial Chemical Peels

About Facial Chemical Peels

If you have serious wrinkles that you have not been able to diminish with creams or preventive treatments like moisturizing and hydrating products, then a chemical facial peel may be for you. Many people think that these treatments are harsh and can damage skin, but the truth is that they can literally erase decades of wear from your face and even remove acne scars and and other hard-to-cover pits and furrows completely. However, make sure you understand exactly how facial chemical peels work before you invest in one to ensure that you are comfortable with the process.

Function

This is a before-and-after of a successful chemical peel.

Facial chemical peels use naturally derived and engineered chemicals to remove dead skin from your face. They are a method of extreme exfoliation and can dramatically diminish lines, wrinkles and acne scars in one treatment. The peel usually has several steps, including a chemical treatment and a restorative treatment to prevent your skin from becoming irritated.

Features

Because facial chemical peels have several steps, they can take from five minutes to a full day to complete. You may also have to do maintenance at home while your skin heals. Chemical peels instantly remove layers of dead skin from your face and cause the skin underneath to take on a smoother, healthier appearance.

Effects

Ultimately, chemical peels are designed to make you look younger, and because they expose younger skin, they generally do exactly that. However, you may experience tingling or even pain during the peel, and your face may be sensitive for days or even a few weeks after you have had the treatment. You may also be flushed for several days.

Time Frame

The duration of your chemical peel will depend on what type of peel you select. "...Been disappearing your age from the whole planet? But for how long will this go on? Or got fed up trying those appealing anti aging creams, hurtful surgery and unhealthy chemicals? Do Not Worry, dear. Right here is a natural therapy to look and get younger, healthier and sexier than you are. So here it is for you Anti-aging Foods..". A do-it-yourself peel usually only takes three to five minutes, whereas an office peel may require multiple visits over the course of several weeks. You will have the peel done in the office, then you will return usually once a week or every other week so that your dermatologist can monitor your progress and repeat the peel if necessary. Usually, your skin will tingle for a few hours, then remain sensitive for several days. You will have to moisturize hourly until the results from the peel are fully completed.

Considerations

A facial chemical peel will make your skin sensitive to the sun as well as to the touch. If you plan on being outside at the beach, for example, then you should not get a chemical peel any less than a month before your trip. Also, you must plan to shield your face even if you are only outside for a few minutes, so always keep a scarf or hat on hand after your peel.

Warning

Facial chemical peels can give you great and youthful-looking results, but they can also seriously damage your skin. Work with a dermatologist to ensure that your facial chemical peel contains the right ingredients for you. If you have sensitive skin, you may need to test the ingredients before you have them applied to your entire face, or you may wish to go with natural or organic peels, which do not always get the same significant results without repetition, but are much gentler on your skin. Always follow facial chemical peel instructions to the letter and never leave them on for longer than your doctor recommends.
