How to Find a Facial Laser Treatment

How to Find a Facial Laser Treatment

Originally, facials meant soothing treatments performed by aestheticians that used special products to clean and exfoliate the skin. Now, facials can be a variety of procedures including laser resurfacing, facial peels, photo facial treatments, and laser hair removal. There also are different types of lasers best suited for specific procedures performed by different professionals. These treatments do have side effects, which include peeling, blistering, scarring and discoloration, so know what treatment you want and who should perform it for best results.

Instructions

Finding the Right Facial Laser Treatment

    1

List your goals. Do you want to remove redness from rosacea or fine wrinkles? Perhaps you have acne scars or birthmarks that you want to diminish. Finding the right facial laser treatment for you depends on what you want to accomplish with the procedure. For example, laser skin resurfacing is not for those with rosacea, according to the International Rosacea Foundation. Also, some laser treatments are more invasive and require more recovery time than others. While a photo facial is minimally invasive, a laser resurfacing procedure is an actual surgery.

    2

Determine your budget. Facial laser treatments can range from $300 to $5,000 based on the type of treatment. Each spa, salon or doctor will set different prices for the same procedures. Some laser facials can accomplish what you want in one or two treatments while others might need multiple procedures. Do not make finances your only determining factor, but they are an important consideration if you do not want any money surprises.

    3

Do your research. Research the professional you want to perform the procedure. Some procedures are best performed by plastic surgeons, aesthetic nurses or dermatologists. At a minimum, professionals need to be certified laser technicians. But a laser technician is not trained for laser skin resurfacing, for example. Care Fair recommends that you consult the American Society of Plastic Surgeons for surgeons in your geographic area who can complete laser treatments. Ask for referrals from friends who have had similar procedures. Call spas, dermatologists and plastic surgeons and ask for the types of laser procedures performed and associated credentials.

    4

Set up consultations. Meet with the professionals who might perform the procedure and ask questions about the actual process, potential side effects, qualifications and how many of this type of procedure they have performed. You need to feel comfortable with the person who will perform the laser facial and the environment where you will have it done. You may select several professionals and have multiple consultations.

    5

Select the place for your laser facial. Make your decision whether to have the procedure done after the consultations and after you've had plenty of time to think it over. Do not rush into the decision. Go back to your list of reasons for the laser facial and make sure that you have found the right type of procedure with the right professional. If you are still unsure, keep looking or ask for testimonials from other clients.

How to Get Rid of Gobbler Neck

How to Get Rid of Gobbler Neck

Gobbler neck, commonly called "turkey neck," is loose skin that hangs down underneath the chin that can be unattractive and annoying. This occurs when skin ages and loses its elasticity. Getting rid of it can be difficult, but that doesn't mean you absolutely have to go under the knife. Although it may be impossible to completely get rid of gobbler neck once you have it, there are creams and facial exercises that can be effective in tightening the neck muscles and reducing it.

Instructions

Facial Exercises

    1

Put your thumb under your chin just where the bone ends and meets your neck. Press the tip of your tongue into your lower gums as if you were trying to touch your tongue to your thumb. Hold for 10 to 15 seconds and repeat several times.

    2

Push your lower lip out and down as far as you can. Do this as hard as you can until your chin turns white. Hold for 10 to 15 seconds and repeat several times. You will feel the muscles in your neck tightening.

    3

Stand up and put your head back so that you are looking at the ceiling. Pucker your lips and act as though you are trying to kiss the ceiling. Hold for 5 to 10 seconds and repeat.

    4

Sit down with your back straight. Rotate your head from one shoulder to another in a circular motion. Try semicircular motions and work your way up to full head rotations. Repeat this as many times as you would like.

Retin-A

    5

Ask your doctor to prescribe Retin-A cream. Although it is typically used to cure acne, it also renews the skin and boosts collagen to tighten up your chin and neck.

    6

Start with .25-strength Retin-A. You don't want to start with anything too strong or it can cause irritation and dry skin.

    7

Apply the cream to your chin and neck each night before bed.

Plastic Surgery and Laser Surgery

    8

Research laser skin therapy and decide if it is right for you. There is a procedure called "Titan" that will tighten the skin and reverse signs of aging without a facelift. Titan uses infrared light to penetrate the dermis layer of skin and stimulate dormant collagen. The procedure is relatively pain-free, according to Laser Cosmetica.

    9

Ask a plastic surgeon about liposuction procedures. A turkey neck can be caused by excess fat in the neck under the chin. Talk to a plastic surgeon about liposuction to remove the fat.

    10

Ask a plastic surgeon if you are a good candidate for a face lift. If you have recently lost a lot of weight and carry a lot of skin under your neck, it may be impossible to reduce without a face lift. Recovery time is about two weeks and the scars are minimal, according to Oprah.

How to Use the FaceMaster to Reduce the Appearance of Lines and Wrinkles

Living in a youth obsessed culture makes it difficult for women as they age. Consequently, most of us are always looking for the next big thing that guarantees it will help us to stave off a few of those extra year. The FaceMaster helps the strengthen the underlying muscles of the face to tone them and make the skin on top of them look more youthful. Because it does that, it also helps to eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles through a method called "feathering."

Instructions

How to Use the FaceMaster to Reduce the Appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles

    1

Establish the electrical current setting appropriate for you on the FaceMaster. If you are a beginner, do not to set the current beyond the third level. As your facial muscles strengthen, you can increase the current accordinly. It should always tingle slightly when set at the right level; however, it should never be painful. If it is, you have set the current level too high. Back it off until you feel nothing more than a slight tingle.

    2

If you have not already done so, insert a 9-volt battery into the machine. Turn it on to make sure that it is working properly as outlined in the machine's instruction manual.

    3

Plug the dual probe into the base of the machine.

    4

Put the conductive solution that comes with the FaceMaster into the basin allotted for it in the front of the machine.

    5

Cover the probe tips with the foam caps that are provided along with the newer FaceMaster versions. If you have an older version of the machine, then insert Q-tip applicators into the probes. Be sure that the cotton tip goes all the way down to the base of the probe as the stick part of the Q-tip will not conduct current.

    6

Dip the probes into the conductive solution, making sure that they are saturated throughout.

    7

    Turn on the machine.

    8

Touch the probe's tips together for one or two seconds. Check the machine to make sure that it is operating properly. If it is, you will feel a slight "tingle" when you apply the probes to your face.

    9

Re-wet the foam or cotton tips with more conductive solution if you do not feel a slight tingle when the probes are applied to the skin. If that does not work, then the current intensity level may need to be increased. Continue the check out process until you begin to feel a tingle when the probes are touched to the skin.

    10

Begin the feather procedure with the eyes. Start with the crow's feet on the outside corner of each eye. Place one probe at the outer corner of the eye. Take the other probe and push it back and forth lightly across the crow's feet at a perpendicular movement from the outside area of the line to just inside where the eye begins. Continue the process for between 10 and 30 seconds; no longer. Repeat the process with the other eye.

    11

Move to the eleven crease lines between the eyebrows. "...Been disappearing your age from the whole entire world? But for how many years will this go on? Or got fed up attempting those tempting anti aging creams, uncomfortable surgery and hazardous chemicals? Do Not Worry, dear. Below is a natural remedy to look and get younger, healthier and sexier than you are. So here it is for you Anti-aging Foods..". Put one probe at the top of one of the eleven creases. Take the other probe and push it lightly back and forth across the crease in a perpendicular movement from top to bottom and back again. Continue the process for between 10 and 30 seconds total. Repeat the procedure with the other eleven crease.

    12

Move to the wrinkles in the forehead. Place one probe at one end of a wrinkle Take the other probe and push it lightly back and forth in a zigzag motion across the wrinkle. Continue the process for between 10 and 30 seconds. Repeat the process with each forehead wrinkle.

    13

Work on the mouth lines at the area commonly referred to as the "puppet lines." Place one probe at the bottom level of the line. Take the other probe and move it lightly back and forth in a zigzag motion across the length of the line. Continue the process for between 10 and 30 seconds; no longer. Repeat the procedure on the other side of the mouth.

    14

Work on the tiny lines that surround the mouth, just above and below the lips. Place one probe at the upper corner of the top lip. Using the other probe, move it lightly back and forth perpendicular to the lines across the top of the lip. Continue this process for about 10 to 30 seconds; no longer. Repeat the same procedure with the bottom lip.

    15

Work on the line folds on either side of the nose. Place one probe at the bottom of the nasal fold. Taking the other probe, move it lightly back and forth in a zigzag motion across the line, moving from the top to the bottom and back. Continue the process for between 10 and 30 seconds; no longer. Repeat the procedure on the other side of the nose

Risks With Fraxel Laser

Risks With Fraxel Laser

Fraxel laser treatment is a nonsurgical alternative for facial rejuvenation. The popular anti-aging treatment claims to dramatically improve the appearance of skin imperfections and works by targeting a fraction of skin at a time with thousands of microscopic laser spots. The recovery time is faster than traditional laser treatments because it is less intrusive; however, as with all cosmetic procedures, there are possible risks.

Inflammation

Fraxel laser treatment only treats 20 percent of skin tissue at a time, therefore, the chances of severe inflammation after treatment are low. However, users with sensitive skin may experience increased inflammation, which can be sore to the touch and look unsightly. This could increase the period of recovery time and even affect the overall results of the treatment. If you are concerned about inflammation, consult with your doctor prior to treatment.

Acne

In rare cases, skin complications such as acne may occur following a Fraxel laser treatment. This is because during the treatment, the skin is stimulated to produce collagen and skin oils. If there is an excess of oil and sebum, acne can occur.

Scarring

All laser skin treatments, including Fraxel, pose some risk of scarring. In some cases, permanent scarring can occur as a result of Fraxel treatment, although this is rare. The scarring is caused by the carbon dioxide laser that is used to remove pigmented tissue from the skin.

Sun Exposure

A patient is required to wear sunscreen of 30 SPF or higher after treatment for up to three months. It is also advised that users avoid direct sun exposure during this time. This is because the procedure increases the sensitivity of your skin. Failure to do this can result in the living tissue's being overexposed to the sun's UV radiation, which increases the chances of sunburn and skin blistering. Sunburn can cause large amounts of pain if severe and other side effects include scarring, dry skin and flakiness.

Infection

Posttreatment, infections can occur on the skin; these may be caused by bacteria or viruses that come into contact with the exposed skin tissue. A simple prescription of antibiotics can prevent the occurrence of infection, as well as can cleansing the skin with a hypoallergenic facial cleanser to remove all impurities on the skin surface.
