Beta-glucan is used to give skin a rosy glow. It is also an antioxidant and is supposed to provide skin with protection from environmental factors while stimulating the immune system. Beta-glucan is commonly derived from plants, yeast, or fungi and is used in certain medicines.
Lavender Oil
Lavender oil is an antiseptic and astringent and is also used to help combat stress. It is derived from the lavender plant and is also commonly used in perfumes, candles, and incense.
Tocopheryl Acetate
Tocopheryl acetate is an antioxidant which is derived from Vitamin E. It is intended to improve skin condition and protect against environmental factors.
Other Ingredients
Hope in a Jar also contains stearates, which are derived from animals, and alcohol, which may irritate sensitive skin. It also contains parabens, which have been potentially linked to cancer. A full list of ingredients can be found on the Philosophy company website at www.philosophy.com.
