Juvederm and Restylane are non-surgical cosmetic solutions for correcting visible signs of aging in the skin. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration as safe and effective, Juvederm (the newer of the two choices, approved in 2006) and Restylane are the two main options for cosmetic dermal fillers. Both work to restore younger, smoother skin by eliminating wrinkles. While these options share other similarities, there are differences to be considered before deciding which dermal filler will produce optimal results. The decision requires consultation with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

About Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid or collagen, which are both natural skin components. Dermal fillers are injected into the skin in a clear liquid gel form. The injection plumps the skin and adds volume from the inside out, "filling" the unwanted irregular skin textures, such as creases and wrinkles. The injections are also effective for plumping up lips. Dermal filler patients range in age, from 30 to 60. Patient skin conditions also vary. Dermal fillers are anti-aging solutions used alone or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures.

Procedure

Juvederm and Restylane are injected into the skin from small vials. The target area is injected by the doctor during a brief procedure; you will feel mild to moderate pain. The deeper the skin condition, the more gel injected. The unwanted creases that draw down from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth, called marionette lines, are treated with half-vial dermal filler injections. The length of the treatment session depends on the quantity of skin areas to be treated, but it usually takes about half an hour.

Benefits

Patients can achieve rapid results with dermal filling, either immediately or a few days after treatment. The procedure is bloodless and much less traumatic than invasive plastic surgery. The side effects and possible complications are minimal. Excessive preparation is not required, and there is rarely any downtime.

Similarities

Juvaderm and Restylane and are both composed of hyaluronic acid, which hydrates the skin in addition to its primary skin-plumping function. Both Juvaderm and Restylane are the leading choices for dermal fillers. Both choices can effectively fill wrinkles, correct acne scars, remove unwanted facial creases and add volume to the lips. Additionally, Juvaderm and Restylane are minimally invasive, and neither requires recovery time.

Differences

Any type of cosmetic injections has potential side effects, such as mild to moderate pain and skin irritation of the treated area, plus bruising and swelling of the treated area after treatment. Any skin irritation, bruising, or swelling that may occur after Juvederm treatment will subside within one day, while such side effects are more common with Restylane and can last for a few days. Results are instant after Juvederm injections, and may not totally appear for up to a week. Juvederm results last three to six months on average, while Restylane results last up to six months. Juvederm, because it is softer than Restylane, is more often used for lip enhancement. Restylane is firmer, making it the preferred choice for skin conditions that require more robust application.

Cost

Dermatologists and plastic surgeons usually price dermal filling procedures per vial injected. According to The American Society of Plastic Surgery, the average cost for Juvederm treatment in the United States ranges from $300 to $500. "...Been disappearing your age from the whole entire world? But for how long will this keep going? Or got fed up trying those appealing anti aging creams, painful surgery and hazardous chemicals? Do Not Worry, dear. Here is a natural therapy to look and get younger, healthier and sexier than you are. So here it is for you Anti-aging Foods..". Restylane treatment ranges from $275 and $700, according to Docshop.com. The skill, reputation and qualifications of the doctor affect the cost, as does the geographic region.
