Facial Electricity Treatments

Electricity treatments are commonly used to tighten and smooth facial skin. Three popular types of facial electricity treatments are Galvanic, Faradic and Micro current. These treatments are typically used in salons and spas; however, Galvanic treatment equipment is also sold for home use. All three treatments are considered non-invasive, meaning no recuperation or recovery time is necessary.

Galvanic

EmbodyForYou describes Galvanic treatments as a facial treament "often applied using a roller over the skin with the application of specialised gels/serums or ampoules. It is very successful and extremely popular as it has proven to show excellent results."

Galvanic equipment makes use of two probes: one with a positive charge and the other with a negative charge. The positive charge, used with acid based serums, helps tighten pores and reduce inflammation. The negative charge, often used with alkaline serums, helps increase blood flow and stimulate nerves. Galvanic equipment is sold for at-home beauty treatments.

Faradic

According to Rio Lift, Faradic facial treatment involves "electrical pulses that do all the hard work for you as they gently tone and tighten sagging facial features and rejuvenate the skin." This treatment is commonly used in electrolysis and to decrease pore size. Faradic treatment's pulses help build up the muscles in the face and an increase in blood supply. This produces a firmer contour, smoother skin fewer apparent wrinkles.

Micro Current

Micro Current is often called a non-surgical face lift. According to Essential Day Spa, "Micro Current is classified as a non-invasive technology and unlike other technologies, one does not need to feel the Micro Current to see results."

Much like Faradic electrotherapy, Micro Current firms facial contours and smooths the skin. This facial therapy usually begins as a course of treatments, typically two to three a week for a total of 10-12 treatments. After that, a once-monthly treatment maintains the effect. Micro Current increases cellular regeneration, which causes an increase in collagen and elastin production.
