How to Reduce Crows Feet

Crow's feet are those wrinkles that form on the outside of each eye from smiling, laughing and frowning. They usually start showing up around age 25. Age causes the elasticity in the skin to loosen, causing wrinkles. Bad habits will make the crow's feet more pronounced. There are some things you can do to reduce crow's feet.

To reduce crow's feet around the eyes, apply sunscreen every day. Apply a daily moisturizer with an SPF underneath makeup. Use a little dab to blend into the skin outside your eyes, being careful not to get it in your eyes.

    Wear sunglasses that adequately cover your eye area. Oversized sunglasses look great and protect your eyes from the sun's rays. When you are shopping for sunglasses, find a pair that are large enough to keep sunlight from getting through. If they are too small, they won't protect the delicate skin around your eyes properly.

    Use a moisturizing eye cream in the morning and before bed. Olay Age Defying Revitalizing Eye Gel works great to reduce crow's feet. Dip your finger in the gel and rub in between your fingers. Apply all around the eye area: under the eyes, on the outside corner of the eyes, and even on the eyelids. This will also keep your skin hydrated, which is important in reducing wrinkles.

    Lightly apply concealer and/or foundation when you wear makeup. Heavy makeup can actually accentuate wrinkles. Instead of reducing the appearance of crow's feet, heavy makeup will show them up even more. Apply your SPF moisturizer first and then lightly apply your makeup. Blot with a square of toilet paper to ensure you don't have too much on.

    See a dermatologist who can give you some more aggressive and longer-lasting treatments such as Botox (an injection to relax muscles), collagen injections (to fill out the area), chemical peels (which burn away the top layer of skin to make room for new skin cells), microdermabrasion (which uses chemicals to slough off the top layer of skin), or a laser resurfacing treatment. A consultation with a dermatologist will help you choose the best treatment for your skin.
