NovaPulse skin resurfacing is a popular dermatologic procedure that uses the NovaPulse CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) laser to help correct signs of aging and facial defects such as scars and discoloration.

Function

The NovaPulse technique vaporizes surface skin cells and wipes them away, leaving a smooth surface for fresh, new cells to develop. This specific hand-held laser delivers pulses of light that last for fractions of a second. The pulses are followed by short pauses, which give the surface of the skin a chance to cool. This prevents the facial tissue from charring and burning and significantly speeds up recovery time.

The skin resurfacing technique is used to diminish wrinkles, crow's feet and the appearance of scars. Because of the advanced technology of the laser, people with varying skin types can be treated using this method. A dermatologic consultation will give the patient a better idea of what to expect from the treatment based on his or her skin pigmentation and type.

Although the NovaPulse technique is effective in reducing the signs of aging and other skin troubles, it is not a total cure. The aging process will begin all over again after the treatment is complete.

Anesthesia

Anesthetics are administered during this procedure to prevent any pain or burning while the laser is active. For small areas, local anesthetics are applied and the patient may remain awake throughout the procedure. If a patient is nervous or uncomfortable, a mild sedative can be administered to help relax the patient's facial muscles. However, total sedation is usually recommended for full-face resurfacing.

Full-face procedures

A special handpiece called the SureScan was added to the laser in 1996 and made full-face procedures more uniform and controlled. It evenly breaks up the laser beam so it can cover a larger area at one time.

Recovery

Recovery following NovaPulse skin resurfacing happens quickly and is virtually painless. New skin should resurface in seven to 10 days. Facial redness is common for one to two months after the procedure but can be covered up with a special type of tinted makeup. Doctors recommend keeping the skin moist in the days directly following treatment and protection from sun exposure is also suggested. "...Been hiding your age from the whole planet? But for how much time will this keep going? Or got fed up trying those appealing anti aging creams, uncomfortable surgery and hazardous chemicals? Do Not Worry, dear. Here is a natural therapy to look and get younger, healthier and sexier than you are. So here it is for you Anti-aging Foods..". Vitamin C supplements and topical treatments can also help to speed up the recovery process, but it is important to talk to a doctor before doing so.

Cost

The typical cost of NovaPulse skin resurfacing can range anywhere between $200 for small area treatment and $4,000 for a full-face scan. Common eye and mouth treatments tend to cost between $1,000 and $1,500.
