Tips for Dark Marks on the Face

Age spots or liver spots on the face are most common in women over the age of 55. However, acne scars and other skin conditions can cause dark spots. A variety of home remedies help to get rid of dark marks on the face. A visit to your dermatologist may be needed if the spots are especially bothersome. Protect your skin from dark spots by limiting your exposure to sun and following these tips for dark spots.

Apply sunscreen to your face before applying makeup. The sunscreen should be at least SPF 15.

Citrus fruits work on dark spots because they contain Vitamin C, which is a bleaching agent. Buy some lemon or limejuice and dab it onto the dark spots of your face with a Q-tip or cotton ball.

Lactic acid helps to lighten dark spots and does not irritate the skin. Sour milk and buttermilk both contain lactic acid. Pour a small amount on a cotton ball or clean dry cloth and apply to the affected area.

Honey contains natural renewing products. Use a cloth or Q-tip to spread a layer of honey on the dark spots on your face. Leave the honey on your face for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse.

Buy liquid Vitamin E or Vitamin E capsules you can puncture. Spread the liquid on the dark spots of the face once or twice a day.

Use a skin lightener that has Hydroquinone as a main ingredient. Hydroquinone is skin bleach that helps to reduce dark spots.

Visit your dermatologist. Your dermatologist can give you options such as a chemical peel or laser treatment.
